Google Developer Groups (GDG) are communities that are supported by Google to allow people around the globe to have the chance to learn about Google technologies. A GDG can take many forms – from just a few people getting together to discuss something about technology, to large gatherings with demos and tech talks, or larger events teaching people to code. However, at the core, GDGs are focused on developers and technical content.

The two individuals who spearhead the GAUG are Prajyot Mainkar and Arya Padte. Prajyot Mainkar is an Android developer himself and is the director of Androcid Media Pvt. Ltd. – an app engineering firm in Goa and one of the earliest adopters of Android development in Goa. Arya Padte is a B.E. Computer Engineering graduate and has been an organizer of Goa Android User Group since it’s early days. They believe that being part of the community gives them a chance to introduce the locals to the Android technology and to give exposure about content that is not in the regular curriculum.

In Goa, Prajyot Mainkar and Arya Padte have been the managers of GDG Goa Android User Group for over 4 years now. They have a passion and love for Android which they have been sharing with the people of Goa and teaching them how to develop in Android. Goa Android User Group is one of Goa’s largest active tech groups.

Goa Android User Group is the 2nd largest Android based community in India. They meet once every month to teach and talk about the latest advancements made by Google Inc. In the last 4 years, Prajyot and Arya have conducted workshops in nearly all the technical colleges in Goa for a total of 1000 students and developers aspiring to learn how to develop Android apps.

Being organizers of Google Developer Groups, they are given direct access and knowledge about Google’s latest technologies, months before it is unveiled to the rest of the world. Recently they were invited to USA by Google to attend the annual developer conference Google I/O which is held in June every year at Moscone Centre, San Francisco, California. This is where Google reveals all the products they have been working on for the past year and gives the attendees a chance to try it out and learn more about it.

Having a close link with the community at Google Prajyot and his team get an opportunity to meet Googlers and get first hand information on all of Google’s latest development on Android. The team at GAUG ensure that they to pass on this state-of –the art information to the Goans more specifically youngsters through their hands on training workshops and sessions.
