Mapusa – Mapusa Municipality has resolved to go paperless by undertaking various measures of digitizing its administrative procedures and citizen services.
In a recently held meeting of the civic body it was decided to implement the ‘Goa Right of Citizen for Time bound Service Act’ in letter and spirit so as to provide better service to the people with the help of Information Technology. MMC also resolved to make the administration paperless by undertaking the digitization of all documents. The municipality already offers some of its service online such as payment of Property and House Tax payment, Rent payments and Online Trade & Signboard Payments etc.
The MMC chairperson Sandip Falari said MMC has resolved to invite expression of interest from all interested parties to undertake digitalisation of documents of the council. Mumbai based company , Ved System Infocom Pvt Ltd has already submitted a proposal to MMC in this regards according to MMC.
In another major decision taken during the meeting it was decided to increase the security deposits for the new shops to be auctioned by almost 56% of the existing amount.
The newly proposed figures are as follows – 6 to 10 sq metres area shops – Rs 1,25,000 from the existing Rs 80,000, 14 to 16 sq metres to be charged Rs 2,50,000 from existing Rs 1,60,000 and 21 to 24 sq metres shops security deposits to be hiked to Rs 3,75,000 from Rs 2,40,000. But shops under reserved category will be exempted from this rate hike.
