Sept 30 – Congress today alleged that almost 1.2 Crore sq mtr of land was opened for development between June 2021 and Sept 2021 after the Pramod Sawant led govt constituted a committee to review and reverse Private Forests identified by Thomas & Araujo committee. “The cat is out of the bag, between 06/2021-09/2021, CM Pramod Sawant constituted a committee to review and reverse Private Forests identified by Thomas & Araujo committee, the result massive private forests removed & converted, opening almost 1.2 Crore m2 land for development. This act of Sawant opened the flood gates for anti-Goa mega projects such as Lodha, Zuari and the infamous Bhutani..this is much larger than the 2011 Regional plan,” said Congress leader Sunil Kavthankar. We therefore demand immediate resignation of CM Pramod Sawant and restoration of Forests, he added.
