Digital Goa, Jan 21 – Goa govt has issued a notification formally integrating the newly established 100-bed Tuem Hospital in Pernem taluka as a linked facility of Goa Medical College (GMC), upgrading it to a satellite of the state’s premier medical institution. Doctors from GMC and the DHSS will be deputed to provide healthcare services at the Tuem facility. Orders regarding the deployment of doctors will be issued separately, the notification states. The Dean of Goa Medical College and the Director of Health Services have been directed to take necessary steps for effective implementation and to ensure smooth coordination between the institutions for delivering healthcare services to the region. The notification addresses long-standing demand of the villagers and the Tuem Hospital Kruti Samiti over delays in commissioning the hospital which was completed way back in 2021. The Samiti has intensified the protest since last week and also threatened a “fast unto death” from January 28.
