Digital Goa, Sept 26 – In all 130 persons died and 139 were grievously injured in road accidents in Goa in the past 6 months from March to August 2023 as per statistics released by the Directorate of Transport. 1,410 accidents were recorded in the State in these 6 months. The Dept issued 30,855 challans to traffic violators during this period. Of these, 28,605 were issued in the three months of June to August, after department intensified its drive against traffic violations following increase in fatal accidents in Goa. The maximum i.e. 30 accidental deaths were recorded in March while minimum i.e. 13 deaths were recorded in August 2023. However, the number of accidents per month continue to be above 200 .
