Digital Goa, Jan 11 – Total of 136 persons lost their lives in fire and other emergency incidents in Goa in the year 2023. Property to the tune of Rs 8 crore and 65 animals were also lost in these incidents as per information shared by Fire & Emergency Services. The FES personnel however managed to save 190 lives and assets worth Rs 37.21 crore in the bygone year. The department catered to 9,132 calls from Jan 1 to Dec 31 2023, of which 4,320 were related to fire incidents, 2742 were weather linked incidents, 2031 were other emergencies, 15 were water related incidents and 24 were geophysical incidents. Maximum i.e 925 of these calls were received in Mapusa area. Fire fighters also managed to save 690 animals.
