1,500 Goa police personnel to be deployed for Old Goa exposition: DGP

Nov 11- Nearly 1,500 police personnel attached to all wings of Goa police will be deployed during the decennial Old Goa Exposition, informed DGP Goa Alok Kumar. DGP held a review meeting with the officials and the exposition secretariat in this regards today. He asserted that Goa police strength is adequate and no additional Central police force will be sought to maintain law and order. He also assured that personnel at check posts will be intimated to ensure that devotees specially those on walking pilgrimage are not inconvenienced in any manner.
Measures to be put in place to ensure that there is no disturbance to Exposition
DGP also informed that due measures will be put in place to ensure that there should be no disturbance to the exposition of any kind. Whenever there is a large gathering of people, petty criminals from the state as well as neighbouring states target the crowd, informed DGP and assured that appropriate measures will be put in place to keep a check on this and any other kind of criminal activity.
The exposition of the relics of St Francis Xavier will commence on November 21and will go on till January 5.
