Digital Goa, Mar 1 – Mapusa Municipal Council (MMC) today told the High Court that 17 show cause notices have been issued to vendors in the illegal hoarding case and separate show cause notices will also be issued to land owners wherein these 17 hoardings are existing within a week. The Court was hearing the Suo Motu petition regarding illegal hoardings across the state. Since the issue with regard to billboards and other advertisement on the NH-66 passing from the Goa was also raised during the hearing Principal Chief Engineer, PWD, Government of Goa has also been added as a party to the present proceedings on behalf of MoRTH. The counsel of the village panchayats displaying hoardings on the riverside land overlooking the Mandovi informed the Court that electricity supply to the said hoardings is disconnected and such hoardings are also covered with cloth. He further submits that if some hoardings remains to be covered, same will be covered as early as possible. The case has been posted for next hearing on April 5.
