Digital Goa, Nov 7 – The 56th edition of the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) will feature over 240 films from 81 countries, including 13 world premieres, 5 international premieres, and 44 Asian premieres. The festival will open with Brazilian filmmaker Gabriel Mascaro’s sci-fi fantasy feature The Blue Trail. Japan will be the country of focus, with Spain as the partner country and Australia in the spotlight. The festival will also showcase over 50 films by women directors and introduce new awards for web and OTT content. The Indian Panorama section will present 25 feature films, 20 non-feature films, and 5 debut features, opening with Amaran (Tamil), directed by Rajkumar Periyasamy, and the non-feature Kakori. As part of the festival’s celebrations, legendary actor Rajinikanth will be felicitated at the closing ceremony for completing 50 illustrious years in cinema. The festival will be held in Goa from November 20 to 28, 2025. The Waves Film Bazaar, in its 19th edition, will host over 300 film projects across multiple segments including the Screenwriters Lab, Co-Production Market, and Viewing Room Library. The Co-Production Market will feature 22 feature films and 5 documentaries, offering cash grants totalling $20,000 to winning projects.
