29,725 student across Goa to be screened for vision related issues under CSR

    Digital Goa, Aug 8 – Goa govt will commence screening of 29,725 children from Govt and aided schools across Goa from tomorrow for vision related issues as part of ‘Vision for all’ program undertaken through CSR. Children will be given free spectacles and eye treatment if required free of cost, under the initiative. Prasad Netralay Superspecialty Eye Hospital Udupi will undertake the screening while spectacles will be given to the students through OneSight EssilorLuxottica as part of their CSR activity. Goa govt had commenced the ‘Vision for all’ program through the Goa CSR Authority in January 2023. 1,700 odd teachers were trained to do the primary screening using a chart in the first phase. These teachers screened 2.05 lakh students studying in govt and aided schools and have identified that 29,725 students many have vision related issues. These students will now be examines by technicians from Prasad Netralay Superspecialty Eye Hospital in the second phase of the program which commences tomorrow. Around 3,000 Students from Bicholim and Sattari will be screened at Ravindra Bhavan, Sakhali from Sept 9 to Sept 13 with around 600 students being screened per day. The program will be continued in all other Talukas from Sept 25 th onwards.
