4 suspended, PSI shifted as Goa Police acts on misconduct allegations

    Digital Goa, Sep 2 – Goa Police has suspended four personnel following allegations of misconduct and irregularities raised by Congress MLA Carlos Alvares Ferreira in the Assembly, while Porvorim PSI Viraj Sawant has been shifted to the Goa Reserve Police (GRP) in a separate misconduct case.Head Clerk Mukund Menkurkar/Lamgaonkar was suspended for allegedly inducing persons facing departmental inquiries to buy LIC policies through his wife, while LDC Pratap Sawant was suspended for allegedly taking money from Home Guards on the promise of jobs.PC Gauresh Naik was suspended over alleged disproportionate assets, with a separate complaint pending before the ACB, while departmental action has been initiated against PC Sumesh Mandrekar who was earlier suspended over his alleged involvement in a Colvale NDPS case in which he has been charge-sheeted.Separately, PSI Viraj Sawant was shifted to GRP, Altinho, after a video purportedly showing him threatening hotel staff went viral.
