Digital Goa, Jan 24- Goa govt today told the High Court that 49 of the 64 illegal structures in the No Development Zone(NDZ) at Girkarwado, Arambol have been sealed and show cause notices will be issued to the remaining ones within 15 days. The court has asked the authorities to refrain from desealing the structures without permission from the court. The CRZ Authority inspection report has pointed to more illegal structures in the area. In view of this HC has asked Goa State Pollution Control Board(GSPCB) to look into the matter and take appropriate steps as far as commercial activities are concerned, informed Advocate General(AG) Devidas Pangam.
▪️ Former Arambol Sarpanch asked to make statement on demolition of his illegal structures by Jan 29
The court has given former Sarpanch of Arambol village panchayat Bernad Fernandes time till Monday, Jan 29 to tell if he is ready to demolish the ground plus three structure constructed by him. Based on his statement, Court will take a call, AG added. Fernandes told the court that the structure was built by his father and uncle. The counsel of the owner of neighboring illegal hotel building which brought the issue of illegal structures at Girkarwado in limelight told the court today that third floor of the building has already been demolished as per court order. Govt is expected to verify the claim and give a report to the court.
