Sept 10 – Five migrant workers working on Mobor and Cutbona jetty have died due to diarrhoea while 163 patients have been detected since Aug 17, as per DHS. Nearly 4 to 5 new cases are being detected per day as of today, informed state epidemiologist Dr Utkarsh Betodkar . Some of the workers have tested positive for Cholera and chances are that all are Cholera cases, he added. Affected workers are in 19 to 50 age group. However, the outbreak has not yet affected the local population he said. 10 patients are presently admitted at GMC while 15 are admitted at SGDH. DHS has been supplying ORS to workers, medicine kits have also been supplied to boats. DHS has initiated containment measures in association with boat owners and local panchayat.
