A 70-year-old woman, identified as prominent dermatologist Dr Marcia Rosa Pacheco D’Souza, died in a tragic lift accident at a residential complex in Colva on Thursday night, According to available information, Dr Marcia, a resident of Chandravaddo, Fatorda, had gone to meet an acquaintance in the building when she reportedly opened the lift door and stepped in, unaware that the lift cabin was not at the floor level. She allegedly fell into the shaft, and when the lift cabin later descended, it reportedly struck her. She was rushed to hospital, where doctors declared her brought dead. Dr Marcia was a well-known figure in Goa’s medical fraternity, having earlier served at Hospicio Hospital in Margao.
