Digital Goa, August, 10 – As many as 71 dengue-positive cases have been detected at South Goa District Hospital lab in just the first 10 days of August, indicating a continuing high incidence of the mosquito-borne disease, Medical Superintendent of South Goa District Hospital Dr Rajendra Borkar informed. Of these, 27 patients required admission. Hospital figures show a sharp rise over the past few months, from 9 positive cases in May to 39 in June and 91 in July. Admissions also rose from eight in May to 29 in June and 79 in July.Dr Borkar said the present uneven spells of monsoon are conducive to dengue, with mosquitoes breeding in clean stagnant water and advised people to take due precaution to prevent water stagnation.
