🔸 Externment orders against Pastor Domnic and wife Joan cancelled by High Court

May 8 – High Court today cancelled the externment order issued against Five Pillar Siolim church pastor Domnic D’Souza and wife Joan Mascarenhas. The Court ruled that externement orders cannot be issued on the basis on pending and ongoing cases against individuals.

🔸 SSC results tentatively on May 15

May 8 – Goa board is likely to announce the result of Std 10th exams on May 15. Goa Board Chairman Bhagirath Shetye today however said that the date is tentative and not finalised as yet.

🔸 Goa Lok Sabha Polls most peaceful in the country: DGP

May 8 – Lok Sabha elections in Goa were most peaceful in the country, informed DGP Goa Jaspal Singh. “Goa Police thanks and congratulates all the Goans for ensuring the most peaceful elections in the country. True to the reputation of peaceful and tranquil society, the polling was absolutely peaceful. There was no PCR call of any incident from anywhere. Dev bhare karoon,” said DGP.

🔸 Govt contemplating granting sound permissions to indoor events beyond 10 pm: CM

May 8 – Goa govt is working on finding a workaround to grant sound permissions for events held at indoor, closed and sound proof premises beyond 10 pm, informed CM Pramod Sawant. Pointing out that there are sound restrictions on all events post 10 pm as per Central Act Sawant said, “When we are promoting Goa as a wedding destination we will have to think positively.” “Goa Pollution Control Board is working on it. From tourism angle also we will have to see. Solution has to come”, he added.

🔸 Children from Bardez family miss out on Rs 3 crore fortune due to demonitisation

May 8 – Children from a family at Bardez missed out on a fortune of Rs 3 crore left by their parents in a bank lockers due to demonitisation. A person from Bardez who passed away, 12 years back in 2012 had stacked around Rs 3 crore in cash and jewellery in the 3 bank lockers. But the children who stayed abroad were oblivious to the fact that their parents operated the lockers. When they arrived in Goa to sell their local property, they found the bank locker papers. Upon approaching the bank and opening the lockers they found jewellery and Rs 3 crore in cash stacked in the 3 lockers. However, the money was in old demonitised currency notes and was of no use to the children.

🔸 BJP confident of winning both Lok Sabha seats in Goa with huge margins

May 8- BJP will win both seats in Goa with thumping majority. Voting percentage has crossed our expectations and it will be favourable to BJP. Congress played caste and religious politics and the people of Goa have showed them their place in yesterday’s election. INDI alliance will be completely decimated in this elections, claimed BJP state president Sadanand Tanavade.
