Digital Goa, May 5 – A 9-year-old girl drowned in a canal at Padamol, Sirvoi in Quepem on Sunday evening. The girl had accompanied her mother to a family wedding at a house located next to the canal. According to relatives, she told her mother around 6:30 pm that she was going to the canal to wash her feet. Her absence was noticed around 7:30 pm when the family was preparing to leave. Locals later found her body in the canal. Quepem police are investigating the matter. The case adds to recent drowning deaths reported in the state, prompting concerns over safety near water bodies in Goa.
