Sought 90:10 ratio funding for Centrally Sponsored Schemes from 16th Finance Commission: CM

Jan 9 – Goa government has urged 16th Finance Commission to provide funding for the core Centrally Sponsored Schemes (CSS) on 90:10 ratio i.e. 90% expenses to be borne by the Center and 10 % by the State, in lines with the sharing pattern granted to the North-Eastern states, informed CM Pramod Sawant. Presently, the Center: State expenses sharing pattern for 8 North Eastern and 3 Himalayan States is 90:10; and for other States including Goa it is 60:40. “We presented a detailed overview of the state, showcasing Goa’s achievements and articulating our expectations for financial support through funds and grants to ensure its continued development,” informed Sawant. Pointing out that the state faces significant challenges in managing fiscal resources, CM said , “To address these concerns, we emphasized the importance of ensuring that Goa receives its rightful share in the devolution criteria, taking into account the state’s unique needs and its contributions to national progress.”
