GWMC approves E-Waste Policy 2024 for Goa

Jan 15 – Goa Waste Management Corporation (GWMC) today approved the E-Waste Policy 2024 for the State aimed at developing sustainable waste management practices. The decision was taken during the meeting of the Corporation chaired by CM Pramod Sawant today. Several key decisions aimed at strengthening waste management initiatives in Goa were taken during the meeting.
▪️ GAIL to setup 150 tons per day Waste Processing Plant in Goa
GWMC approved allocating land to Gas Authority Of India Ltd (GAIL) for establishing a 150 tons per day wet waste processing plan to enhance the state’s waste management infrastructure.
▪️ Online training in Waste Management Practices through MOOC
Goa Waste Management Corporation (GWMC) will train stakeholders across the country in waste management practices through online courses. GWMC has announced the development of a Massive Online Open Courseware (MOOC) for conducting such trainings, in its meeting held today.
▪️ Goa Handicraft’s MRF facility to come up in 5,000 sq mtr land at Kakoda IDC
Goa Handicraft, Rural and Small-Scale Industries Development Corporation Ltd. will be allotted 5,000 sq mtr land along with two existing sheds at Kakoda IDC in South Goa for use as a Material Recovery Facility (MRF).
▪️ GWMC earns Rs 38.56 lakhs revenue through scrap auction
Revenue of Rs 38.56 lakh was earned through the auction of vehicles and metal waste. The corporation has decided to float new tenders for the collection, transportation, and segregation of solid waste, including non-biodegradable and dry waste.
