Jan 31- Panic gripped people in the area after a petroleum fuel pipeline got damaged at the Dabolim Junction allegedly during ongoing road works through Highway work contractor. As precautionary measures, National Highway was closed for traffic and emergency services were also kept on standby. Major tragedy was averted as the fuel pipeline allegedly belonging to Zuari Indian Oil Adani Ventures Private Limited (ZIAVPL), formerly known as Zuari Indian Oil tanking Private Limited was not pumping fuel when the damage occurred. However, as the air trapped inside the empty petroleum pipeline started coming out from the damaged portion, people in the vicinity raised an alarm that it was a gas leak, informed a company official. The repair will take 3 to 4 days, he added. The official further assured that there is no immediate threat of any kind for movement of people and traffic in the area. He also assured that there will be no fuel crisis due to closure of the pipeline for repair as they already have 10 to 15 days product at their terminal. The ship which was expected to dock at the port with fuel which would be pumped through this pipeline will be deferred, he informed.
