Digital Goa, Mar 12 – North Goa rent-a-car owners have urged the govt to reconsider their decision to stop renewal, replacement and new permissions for rent-a-cab licences. The aggrieved cab owners who had come to get renewal and replacement permissions from the department met the Assistant Director today. They were told that the State Transport Authority (STA) has decided in its meeting to stop renewal, replacement and new Rent-a-Cab licences until further notice. The owners said that public notice has also not been issued in this regards so far. Govt had decided to crack down on rent-a-cars following a spate of accidents involving rented vehicles specially drunken driving accidents. Directorate of Transport, had also issued a notice on February 20 prohibiting rent-a-cars from operating from Airport and Railway stations.
