Goa Govt forms task force on Stray Dogs following SC Order

Digital Goa, August 12 – The Directorate of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Services has constituted a task force to address stray dog issues and ensure their rehabilitation in shelter homes, in view of Supreme Court order dated August 11, 2025. The committee, chaired by Dr. Nitin Naik, Dy. Director (Epid.), includes Dr. Atanazia Fernandes, Assistant Director, Veterinary Hospital Sonsodo (South Goa member), and Dr. Charlette Fernandes, Assistant Director, Government Poultry Farm, Ela, Old Goa (North Goa member). The Supreme Court on August 11 had directed municipal authorities to pick up and house all stray dogs in Delhi and parts of the National Capital Region (NCR) in dedicated shelters within eight weeks following the death of a six-year-old girl due to rabies.
