Digital Goa, September 15, 2025 – A delegation of Mhadei Bachao Abhiyan met CM Pramod Sawant and Water Resources Minister Subhash Shirodkar on Monday, demanding urgent measures to stop the diversion of river Mhadei by Karnataka. The delegation urged the Goa government to arrange a meeting with the Union Environment Minister to apprise him of the gravity of the situation. They also pressed for steps to ensure an early hearing of the matter in the Supreme Court and for the appointment of Delhi-based counsels who would be available whenever the case comes up before the apex court. They further demanded an aerial survey of the diversion sites to clearly assess the work underway and its impact on the river’s flow. Volunteering to visit the Kalsa-Bhandura diversion sites in Karnataka, the delegation also sought police protection, citing past difficulties faced by those who attempted to inspect the area.
