KTCL ‘Mazi bus’ scheme to be launched on pilot basis from June 15 on 3 routes with 287 buses

    Digital Goa, June 12 – KTCL will launch the Mazi Bus Scheme from June 15, 2023 on three routes- Canacona to Margao, Curchorem-Quepem-Margao and Curchorem -Ponda-Panaji . The scheme wherein KTCL has hired private buses on the three routes, will be executed on pilot basis for a period of 6 months from June 15 to December 31, 2023. In all 41 Buses will be put in service on Canacona to Margao route, 102 on Curchorem-Quepem-Margao route and 144 buses will be deployed on Curchorem -Ponda-Panaji route under the Scheme. On an average Rs 34 per km will be paid to the private bus owners with 180 kms as minimum assured distance. Based on the feedback of the pilot routes the scheme will be fine-tuned and final scheme will be prepared for all routes in Goa.
    ▪️ Last mile late night and early morning connectivity
    Buses under the scheme will be used to provide last mile connectivity to remote villages by providing late night and early morning trips. Incidentally, of the 1104 route permits issued to private operators, now only 578 buses are operating and there has been no new registration of private buses under stage carriers since 2018.
    ▪️App for ticketing and bus tracking to be deployed by July
    Kadamba Transport Corporation Ltd is shortly coming with real time bus ticketing and tracking app. It will give real time bus schedules to commuters as well as allow them to do bus ticket booking through QR code. KTCL has already mounted Vehicle Location Tracking Device (VLTD) devices on 51 electric buses and 459 other KTCL Buses. The routes covered by KTCL are geo tracked and mobile application designing is under process. KTCL will put this mobile app in public domain by mid July 2023.
    ▪️ Taxis for govt depts to be hired through KTCL
    KTCL also launched the scheme for hiring Taxis for Government Departments on a monthly basis for a five-year period.
