Digital Goa, November 12 – Flight Lt. Akash Deep, the newly appointed Director of Goa International Airport, Dabolim, has outlined plans to reach out to airlines that had withdrawn from Dabolim, offering incentives and better facilities to bring them back. He emphasised that the airport’s geographical location gives it a distinct operational advantage. Announcing an expansion plan, he said the terminal area will be increased by 18,300 sq. meters, raising passenger handling capacity by 700 — from 4,450 to 5,150 passengers. The airport handled 15,127 passengers per day in October and records about 110–120 aircraft movements, or around 50 flights daily. Deep also said enhanced security measures have been implemented in the wake of the recent Delhi car bomb blast.
