Goa aims to become India’s creative capital and global filming hub: CM Sawant at 56th IFFI inaugural

Digital Goa, Nov 20 – CM Pramod Sawant said that Goa is steadily positioning itself as India’s most preferred shooting destination, not just for its scenic locations but due to policy reforms designed to make filmmaking easier and more efficient. Speaking at IFFI 2025 inaugural event, Sawant said the festival acts as a “bridge between Indian talent and global possibilities,” while also showcasing Goa’s cultural diversity to the world. Sawant highlighted that the state’s Film Finance Scheme, which offers funding of up to ₹50 lakh depending on the category of film, has strengthened support for filmmakers. Revised shooting rules designed for quicker clearances are already in place, and government is working toward single-window clearance to simplify permissions further. Goa is committed to developing itself as a global film production hub, supported by national incentive schemes for foreign productions, promotion through the Film Bazaar, and visibility on international platforms, he added. “We are reviving more structured incentive models that match global film destinations because we want filmmakers to choose Goa not only for its beauty but for ease of work, efficiency and a supportive system,” CM said. Sawant asserted that Goa aims to become creative capital of India by strengthening film related infrastructure, supporting Goan filmmakers, building a year-round filmmaking ecosystem, and promoting Goa as a top international filming destination.
