Goa Police register FIR against organisers of controversial event

Digital Goa, Nov 24 – Goa Police have registered an FIR against founders of 2 organisations for allegedly outraging religious sentiments of the Catholic community through their proposed event titled “Tales of Kamasutra and Christmas Celebration.” The FIR was filed based on a complaint filed by Cyril Fernandes, President of the Catholic Association of Goa. According to the complaint, the accused — identified as the founder of Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh and the founder of Osho Ludhiana Meditation Society — allegedly acted with common intention to organise the event and circulated publicity material containing explicit sexual content linked to Christmas. The event title and promotional content amounted to intentional insult to the faith, the complaint added. Offence has been registered by Panaji Police under section 299 (deliberate and malicious acts intended to outrage the religious feelings), 294 (sale, advertisement, or public display of obscene content, including digital media), r/w 3 (5) of BNS 2023.
