Goa among 7 states contributing more to Central taxes than what it receives back: Union Finance Ministry

Digital Goa, December 8 – Goa is among seven States that contributed a higher share of taxes to the Centre than the amount it received through devolution between 2020-21 and 2024-25, according to data shared in the Rajya Sabha. Goa’s negative difference stands at 0.04 percentage points, placing it alongside Maharashtra, Karnataka(8.8 percentage points), Haryana(4.3pps), Gujarat(3.5 pps), Tamil Nadu(2.95 pps) and Telangana(1.4pps). The figures come as the 16th Finance Commission’s recommendations for 2026-31 are now in process, with a new formula set to apply from April 1, 2026.
