Digital Goa, Mar 18 – Opposition MLAs in Goa have petitioned Governor Pusapati Ashok Gajapathi Raju seeking the dismissal of the Council of Ministers headed by CM Pramod Sawant and dissolution of the Goa Legislative Assembly, alleging an unconstitutional and premature curtailment of the Budget Session. The delegation led by Congress leader and LoP Yuri Alemao comprising of AAP MLA Venzy Viegas and Cruz Silva and RGP MLA Viresh Borkar met the Governor today. The opposition alleged that the session was abruptly wound up citing the Model Code of Conduct for the upcoming Ponda by-election. They argued that several other states facing by-elections have continued their legislative sessions, calling the move in Goa “a murder of democracy.” The opposition also pointed out that states like Gujarat, Karnataka, Tripura, Nagaland and Maharashtra have ongoing sessions despite by-elections, with Tripura even presenting its Budget during the Model Code of Conduct period.
