Digital Goa, May 21 – Goa government has launched Divyang Kaushal Yojana, a new scheme to provide financial assistance to registered organisations, government bodies, NGOs, trusts and institutions to set up sheltered workshops for persons with disabilities, aimed at skill development and independent living. Under the scheme, eligible organisations can receive up to ₹2.90 lakh per month as operational grant on a reimbursement basis, along with a one-time grant of ₹10 lakh for setting up workshops, purchasing furniture, machinery and raw materials. Organisations must have at least three years’ experience in disability empowerment and a minimum enrolment of 20 persons with disabilities to qualify. The scheme will support vocational training, supervised work opportunities, transport, food, staffing and administrative expenses, with a maximum of six sanctioned units per district.
