3,000 orders ready under Mhaje Ghar : CM

Digital Goa, June 3 – Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Wednesday said that around 5,000 houses across Goa will benefit from Goa government’s Mhaje Ghar scheme. Around 3,000 orders are ready, he informed. Sawant said a special programme has been scheduled at Ravindra Bhavan, Margao, on Thursday, where regularisation orders will be distributed to around 1,000 beneficiaries. The scheme covers houses built before 1972, dwellings covered under the 20-Point Programme, Housing Board plots, structures regularised under the Goa Regularisation of Unauthorised Construction Act (RUCA), and houses situated on government and Communidade land. The government will also set up special counters at the venue to assist beneficiaries in completing the required formalities. The Chief Minister said the date for a similar programme in North Goa will be announced shortly. He appealed to all eligible residents who have not yet applied under the scheme to do so and avail of the benefits. He also appealed to Communidades to issue NoCs to Mhaje Ghar applicants. The Mhaje Ghar scheme is a housing regularisation initiative aimed at granting legal ownership rights to residents of unauthorised houses that have existed for several years.
Sawant was speaking to media at the cabinet briefing.
