Digital Goa, June 12 – The Goa government has extended the Essential Services Maintenance Act (ESMA) imposed on pharmaceutical sector by another six months, prohibiting strikes in any form in establishments involved in the manufacturing, packaging, distribution and transportation of pharmaceutical products. The order will take effect from June 17, 2026, and remain in force for six months.

Government of Goa in exercise of the powers conferred upon it by sub-section (1) of Section 3 of the
Goa Essential Services Maintenance Act, 1988 (Goa Act No. 20 of 1989) and being satisfied that in the
public interest it is necessary so to do, hereby prohibits strike in any form in all establishments engaged in
manufacturing, packaging, distribution and transportation of pharmaceutical products and components
thereof in pharmaceutical sector in the State of Goa with immediate effect.
This Order shall be valid for a period of six months with effect from 17/06/2026.
