Digital Goa, July 31 – In an administrative push to preserve public order, sanitation, and the state’s tourism appeal, the Department of Tourism, Government of Goa, has issued a comprehensive public order declaring 19 specific ‘unauthorized’ and ‘unhygienic’ practices as “Nuisance” across all designated tourist spots in the state under the Goa Tourist Places Protection and Maintenance Act, 2001, with immediate effect.The order, prohibits activities including unauthorized water sports and boating operations, hawking, touting of cruise and water sports tickets, unauthorized beach shacks, deck beds and beach parties, public drinking, littering, cooking in open spaces, begging, illegal occupation of beach land, unauthorized vehicles on beaches, public urination and defecation, pollution of beaches and unauthorized solicitation or providing unauthorized massage services at tourist places, or association with masseurs, vagabonds, hawkers or other persons involved in activities adversely affecting the tourism potential of tourist places. Police have been directed to enforce the order under Section 13 of the Act. Any individual, company or organization violating the provisions will be liable to a fine ranging from ₹5,000 to ₹1 lakh, besides action under Section 223 of the BNS.
