Digital Goa, July 31 – Goa Government has notified three State Sector agriculture schemes aimed at improving crop productivity, promoting modern farming practices and reviving traditional Khazan cultivation. Under the new schemes, farmers will receive 50% subsidy on high-yielding and certified seeds of paddy, pulses and oilseeds, while improved food grain cultivation will be promoted through free seed minikits, demonstrations, incentives for mechanised paddy transplanting and support for the System of Rice Intensification (SRI). The government has also launched a dedicated scheme to revitalise Khazan lands by providing 100% subsidised salt-resistant paddy seeds, including the traditional Korgut variety, to encourage cultivation in saline coastal fields and improve productivity.
