Digital Goa, July 31 – Goa Human Rights Commission (GHRC) has recommended that the Department of Drinking Water establish a single-window mechanism for water supply complaints to prevent delays caused by residents having to approach multiple government departments.The recommendation came while disposing of suo motu proceedings over the drinking water shortage at Lakeside Residency, Arpora, after noting that the issue had been resolved. The Commission also suggested that the Department of Drinking Water serve as the nodal agency for receiving complaints and accepting road-cutting payments whenever required for water supply works. The Commission has sought an action taken report from the authorities within 60 days.

Meanwhile, GHRC has also taken suo motu cognisance of reports that residents of Korgao have been receiving saline water through taps for the past one year. The Commission has issued notices to the Chief Secretary, the Department of Drinking Water and the Public Works Department, directing them to submit reports by August 21, 2026.
