CM proposes online OPD consultations at GMC to reduce patient rush

Digital Goa, Aug 24 – CM Pramod Sawant has suggested introducing an online OPD consultation facility at Goa Medical College (GMC), allowing patients to share medical reports, consult doctors remotely and get prescriptions renewed without having to visit the hospital. Patient rush at OPDs will reduce to 50 % if the OPDs go online, he opined. Sawant directed the Health Secretary and GMC Dean to initiate steps for the facility on the lines of GMC’s recently operational online OPD appointment system. He said many patients from across Goa, including remote parts like Pernem and Canacona currently travel to GMC merely to show reports or renew prescriptions, and online consultations could significantly reduce the daily rush at GMC OPDs.
