Karnataka CM D K Shivakumar has urged Union Environment Minister Bhupender Yadav to defer finalisation of the seventh draft notification on the Western Ghats Ecologically Sensitive Area (ESA), pending a report from the state’s High-Level Committee and completion of a physical survey within a year. According to the tweet on his official handle, Shivakumar has submitted the request during a meeting with Yadav in New Delhi.The demand assumes significance for Goa, where 108 villages are also proposed for inclusion under the Western Ghats ESA notification.
