Coastal business owners affected by silent zone at Morjim & Mandrem meet CM

    Digital Goa, Sept 6- CM Pramod Sawant today assured the guest house and hotel owners to find an amicable solution to the issue of declaration of silent zone in Morjim and Mandrem beaches. Morjim Mandrem belt has been declared as silent zone by Goa State Pollution Control Board(GSPCB) on the instructions of the High Court for protection of turtle nesting site from loud music. Dozens of local businessmen called on the chief minister and requested him to give relaxation to guest houses and restaurateurs. GSPCB has issued them notices to stop playing music in their premises. CM assured them of approaching central government to provide relaxation in the sound pollution norms. He also asked them to reply to the notices issued by GSPCB and assured that each case will be discussed and solution will be found to deal with the situation. According to local MLA Jeet Arolkar, more than 250 businesses are affected due to declaration of a silent zone in this belt.
