Several decisions taken at GST Council meeting today will benefit Goa opines CM

Digital Goa, Oct 7 – Goa raised issues regarding condonation of delay in filing of GST appeals as a one-time amnesty till Jan 31, 2024, informed CM Pramod Sawant today. Sawant and Minister Mauvin who is GST Council Member attended the 52nd GST Council meeting in New Delhi today. “It will benefit taxpayers in Goa,” said Sawant. He said that Goa also expressed and advocated concessional GST rates to Persons with Disabilities(PwD) for motor vehicles. “Also supported the proposal not to subject ENA (Extra Neutral Alcohol) as Raw Material for liquor manufacturing under GST and the decision to reduce GST on molasses to 5%. The decision shall benefit Goa’s liquor manufacturers,” he added. Sawant further informed that the GST Council has decided to exempt foreign ships from payment of 5% IGST, if they operate as Cruise ships in India for 6 months and then covert back as foreign vessel. During these 6 months they can promote tourism by plying as a Cruise ship. “This is beneficial for State of Goa and also other coastal states like Kerala, Maharashtra,” opined Sawant.
