Power tariff hike to be effective in Goa from June 16

    June 15- Power tariff in the state will be hiked from tomorrow, June 16 for most categories of consumers, including low-tension and high tension domestic, commercial and industrial categories, as well as low-tension mixed categories of hotel industries, agriculture etc. Joint Electricity Regulatory Commission (JERC) has issued a tariff order to this effect on June 13. “This Order shall come into force with effect from 16th June, 2024 and shall, unless amended or revoked, continue to be in force till further orders of the Commission,” states the order. Goa govt had proposed a tariff hike of 3.48% in its tariff schedule of FY 2024-25. JERC has approved an average tariff hike of 3.50% to further reduce the reliance of the govt on budgetary support from the Govt. of Goa. The Commission has approved the Average Billing Rate (ABR) of Rs. 5.34/kWh against the approved Average Cost of Supply (ACoS) of Rs. 5.59/kWh.
    ▪️ As per the new tariff schedule, for domestic(low tension) users the new tariff rates will be as follows – Rs 1.9 per unit for 0 to 100 units, Rs 2.8 per unit for 101 to 200 units, Rs 3.7 per unit for 201 to 300 units, Rs 4.9 per unit for 301 to 400 units, Rs 5.8 per unit for above 400 units.
    ▪️ For commercial (low tension) users the new tariff rates will be as follows – Rs3.75 per unit for 0 to 100 units, Rs 4.6 per unit for 101 to 200 units, Rs 5.3 per unit for 201 to 400 units and Rs 5.75 per unit for above 400 units.
