Aug 1 – The Landslide Atlas of India, prepared by National Remote Sensing Centre, ISRO, Hyderabad, in February 2023 has ranked the North and South Goa Districts of the State at 111th and121st ranks respectively regarding the exposure to landslides among the 147 landslide prone districts of the country. Wayanad was ranked 13th in the ISRO report, the house was informed by Minister Babush Monserrate in reply to calling attention in this regards. Unplanned and excessive development in ecologically sensitive areas in Goa including Dharbandora in the Western Ghats are prone to such landslides, the calling attention pointed out.
