Aug 2 – The state government has permitted mining firm Vedanta Limited situated at Bicholim, to employ women in the night shift between 7pm and 6am for two years. The company can now employ women in nigh shifts at its 2 Pig Iron as well as Metcoke divisions. The company is expected to comply with several guidelines laid down under Factories Act towards safety of women employees.
