110 unsafe govt buildings to be demolished: CM

Aug 6 – Total of 110 unsafe govt buildings will be demolished by the government, CM Pramod Sawant informed the house today. People have been banned from entering these buildings on account of safety, he added. Some more major buildings will be declared unsafe after vacating tenants, he informed. Repair and reconstruction works have been taken up or proposed for 105 buildings on priority mode and additional 246 buildings have been identified where works need to be taken up on priority, he said. Social Welfare Dept will be shifted to Porvorim shortly and the dilapidated heritage building in which it is presently housed will be renovated, informed Sawant. He assured the house that by March 31,2025 all heritage buildings in Goa will be repaired.
Rs 600 crore earmarked for govt building repairs and reconstruction
Goa govt has made provision of Rs 600 crore for repair, maintenance and construction of government buildings, Sawant informed the house.
