CM assures to clear 10,136 Forest Rights Claims during his present tenure

Aug 6 – CM Pramod Sawant assured the house that all the 10,136 Forest Right Claims across the state will be cleared during his present tenure. He said additional staff have been appointed for survey work to expedite the process. Sawant also asked the claimants to follow up with the process and remain present during surveys and gramsabhas. The Forest Rights Committee (FRC) has received a total Number of 10,136 claims of which 9758 are individual claims and 378 are Community Claims. Spot Verification has been completed in respect of 6543 claims, 4123 claims have been approved by the Gram Sabha, 1958 claims have been approved by the State Level Committee and 1457 claims have been approved by the District Level Committees. In respect of 871 claims, sanads (Land titles) have been issued and 54 claims have been rejected after providing an opportunity of personal hearing by the District Level Committee. During the financial year 2023-24, 308 claims have been approved, 386 titles have been distributed and 20 claims have been rejected, the house was informed.
