Aug 19 – Water supply to Bardez taluka will be restricted till raw water supply from Tillari canal is restored, stated a public notice issued by PWD Executive Engineer today. Raw water from Tillari Canal to water treatment Plants at Asonora and Porvorim has been stopped due to breach in the canal at Kudase, Sindhudurg. “As a result of above, the water supply timings to various localities of Bardez Taluka may be altered or changed depending upon the treated water levels at Plants,” stated the notice. WRD Minister Subhash Shirodkar had earlier stated that the breach to the over 30 year old Tillari canal will not affect the water supply in Goa. He had also said that tender for Rs 250 crore canal repair work will be floated by Maharashtra govt and Goa will have to pay its share of the work.
