Jharkhand man sentenced to life by Sessions Court in 2016 murder case acquitted by High Court

Sept 10 – High Court has acquitted 32-year-old man who was convicted and sentenced to life North Goa sessions court in murder case of a person from Jharkhand in 2016 at Merces. North Goa sessions court had convicted Jharkhand native, Hira Lohar in 2016 , for the murder of Bishnath Mehar at a construction site in Merces. High Court said while acquitting Lohar that the lone witness presented before the court was completely ‘unbelievable and unreliable’. According to the chargesheet filed in court, Lohar allegedly murdered Mehar on July 15, 2016, by strangulating him with the help of a “rope-like packaging material”. He then allegedly hanged him from a cement beam and inflicted injuries on his body.
