Sept 29 – Permissions are granted or rejected by State Police for public processions, functions and events based on the prevailing situation and their impact on law and order, said CM Pramod Sawant today. “ May it be Julus or any other event, our DGP and PIs take the right decision based on prevailing situation,” said Sawant. They take the decision about giving or rejecting permission ensuring law and order is maintained, he added. He was replaying to a query by media persons regarding issues emerging from denial of permission by authorities to hold Julus procession at Canacona following representation by Hindu groups. Incidentally, Muslim groups have given representations at Mapusa and Bicholim police station asking the authorities to intervene in the matter, elaborating on probable repercussions of the incident across the state.
