Dec 11- Total of 71 persons from Maharashtra have been appointed as postmen in Goa in the last 5 years, Lok Sabha was told in a written reply by Union Rural Development Minister. He was responding to a question raised by South Goa MP Captain Viriato Fernandes. Incidentally, several locals who were employed as stop gap arrangement against these temporary vacant posts were subsequently replaced by candidates from Maharashtra. Year wise recruitment figures of postmen from Maharashtra in Goa are as follows – 2020 – 5, 2021 -19, 2022 -18, 2023 -19, 2024 -10. As per recruitment rules for the Postal Divisions in the State of Goa, knowledge of Marathi and Konkani is essential for appointment as Postman.
