Actual investment made through IPB approved projects in last 9 years amounts to only 14.22 % of proposed amount

Digital Goa, July 21 – Goa State Investment Promotion Board has approved 259 projects in the last 9 years with proposed investment of Rs 19,421 crore and employment potential of 54,252, Industries Minister Mauvin Godinho informed the House today. The actual investment already made in the state is Rs 2,762 crore. Incidentally, this amounts to 14.22 % of the proposed investment. “From 2014 to 2023 259 projects have been approved by IPB with proposed investment of Rs 9,421 crore,” said the minister.

Opposition cornered the govt over discrepancies in figures given by the govt regarding employment through projects approved through IPB. CM Pramod Sawant said 2899 Goans and 4,054 non Goans have been employed in various IPB approved projects during the period and constructions of some projects are still underway. Minister Mauvin said employment to the tune of 10,832 has been generated during the period. Mauvin claimed that 45 % of those employed in these projects are Goans. Our endeavor is to take that figure to 50 %, he asserted. Mauvin assured MLA Altone D’costa of bringing a ‘very good project’ at Quitol.

Digital Goa, July 21 – Heavy rain continues to lash Goa disrupting normal life in the state as Goa
recorded average 87.1 mm rain in last 24 hours. Cumulative rainfall in the state has crossed 75 inch
mark which is 18 percent higher than normal. Several rivers in Pernem and Sattari taluka were
flowing close to danger mark due to incessant rain for last few days. Pernem and Ponda received
maximum of 110.8 mm and 113 mm rain in last 24 hours followed by Sanguem (104.5 mm) and
Canacona (101.8 mm). Following rain was recorded at different centres of Goa: Quepem – 100.8,
Margao 99.6, Valpoi – 97.3, Panaji – 76.2, Sanqulim – 70.4, Mapusa – 63, Dabolim – 56.4, Mormugao
– 52.8.
