Advalpal Gramsabha demands postponing of public hearing for Advalpal block alleging EIA report is faulty

Digital Goa, Feb 12 – Advalpal Gramsabha has demanded that the Environmental Public Hearing related to Advalpale-Thivim Mineral Block scheduled on March 15,2024 at Bicholim for addressing concerns of affected persons be postponed. The villagers alleged that the Environment Impact Assesment(EIA) report submitted by the company is faulty. They demanded that the company prepares a fresh EIA report and holds the public hearing subsequently. The villagers also demanded that before holding the public hearing the company should withdraw allegedly false cases filed against locals in 2008. They also demanded that the company desilts the rivers and nullas in the area. The villagers asked the company to remove houses and places of worship from lease area. Pollution Control Board has announced that a public hearing will be held in accordance with Environmental Impact Assessment 2006 for Block V- Advalpale-Thivim Mineral Block with area of 36.2202 Ha Located at Village Adwalpale of Bicholim Taluka and Tivim Village of Bardez Taluka, North Goa District Goa for the production of 0.3 million tonnes per annum (MTPA) of iron ore by M/s. Fomento Resources Private Limited.
